RUNE REIGNS SUPREME
Polish international Rune Holta inspired Dackarna to the top of the Swedish Elitserien after racking up 13 paid 14 points in their 60-35 rout at Valsarna on Tuesday night.
The Norwegian has been in blistering form since joining the Malilla club over the winter. Only Russian World Cup rider Grigory Laguta managed to beat him for the opposition when they met in race 10.
Holta’s team mate Peter Karlsson managed to keep his scorecard clean with a 10 paid 12-point maximum from four outings. Swedish champion Andreas Jonsson weighed in with 11 from four and was only pipped to the chequered flag once by Sebastian Ulamek in heat six.
Meanwhile, reserves Ricky Kling and Ludvig Lindgren silenced the critics who feared Dackarna would be too top-heavy this term by scoring 11 paid 12 and eight paid nine respectively.
Despite such a huge victory, which saw the visitors leave with the bonus point, SGP regulars Freddie Lindgren and Hans Andersen both struggled to hit top form. The Swede bagged six paid eight, while the Dane left with just two points.
Swedish international Daniel Nermark and Polish rider Tomasz Gapinski led the Valsarna scorechart with eight points apiece.
Dackarna leapfrogged Piraterna to the top of the table, after they crashed to their first defeat of the season at Vastervik.
FIM Dig Deep Czech SGP winner Tomasz Gollob starred for the home side with 13 points as they triumphed 53-43. But it was not enough to stop Pirates bagging the aggregate bonus point after their 56-40 win in the reverse fixture.
He was given superb back-up throughout the side as Danish hotshot Nicolai Klindt added nine paid 11, while Chris Harris and Peter Ljung notched nine paid 10 apiece. Rafal Okoniewski scored eight paid nine.
American legend Greg Hancock led the Pirates with 10 points, while Jonas Davidsson tallied nine paid 10. Rio Rocket Antonio Lindback accrued just three points and incredibly, these all came when he defeated Gollob in race four.
Elsewhere, champions Lejonen completed an aggregate triumph over bottom club Rospiggarna after winning 54-42. Australian international Troy Batchelor shone for the Lions on 11 paid 12, while three-time world champion Nicki Pedersen bagged nine paid 11.
Wieslaw Jagus hit back with 13 paid 14 for the visitors, while Przemyslaw Pawlicki bagged 12 at reserve. Ryan Sullivan contributed 11 paid 12, but with the remaining five riders scoring six points between them, Rospiggarna’s hopes were dashed.
In the night’s other meeting, Polish racer Piotr Protasiewicz warmed up for the FIM Dansk Metal Danish SGP by leading Indianerna to a 52-44 home win over Vargarna.
The World Championship series first reserve, who covers for the injured Emil Sayfutdinov in Copenhagen on Saturday, bagged 11 paid 12 points.
Simon Gustafsson found some much-needed form and recorded 10 paid 11. Danish star Bjarne Pedersen added eight paid nine and Magnus Zetterstrom accrued seven paid eight.
Adrian Miedzinski led the Vargarna scores on 14 points, while his fellow Pole Krzysztof Kasprzak notched 13 paid 15 from six outings.
