Did You Know?

  • The first FIM British Speedway Grand Prix held at the Millennium Stadium took place on 09 June 2001.
  • Only one British rider out of the 16 who have ridden at the Millennium Stadium has won the Grand Prix in Cardiff - Chris Harris in 2007.
  • He became only the second British rider to win the FIM British Grand Prix after Martin Dugard, as Wild Card, won the 2000 event at Coventry, ironically watched by a 17 year old, Chris Harris.

The toughest 60 seconds in motorsport is back! The world championship Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix at the magnificent Principality Stadium returns to Cardiff on Saturday 21st July 2018.

Over 40,000 fans will flock to the Welsh capital to see the best speedway riders in the world go full throttle on their 500cc bikes with no brakes or gears at high speed on their quest for vital world championship points. With a show-stopping opening ceremony, award winning fireworks and fanzone full of entertainment in the city, it is a great day out for all the family.

The event is right up there with the biggest events on the British motorsport calendar and we are delighted to announce the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series has once again been working with the Cardiff Hoteliers' Association and Cardiff Convention Bureau to secure accommodation for the 2018 event at competitive rates.

As a result, 1,000 bed spaces have been secured once again for true Speedway fans.

The discounted rates are available on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and although there is no minimum stay requirement, why not make the most of your journey by coming early?

On the Friday you'll have free entry to the practice session at the Principality Stadium as a ticket holder and will be able to catch the riders taking to the track for the first time ahead of the main event. You'll also be able to soak up the big event atmosphere in Cardiff.
