Danish champion Nicki Pedersen carried his blistering club form into the Swedish Elitserien, scoring 14 points to help Vargarna to a shock 48-42 win away to power-packed Indianerna on Tuesday night.

Pedersen has been racking up double figure returns in the Polish Ekstraliga for Gdansk and scored a maximum for Prague in the Czech league last week.

And he was almost unstoppable for the Swedish Wolves, as only former SGP star Rune Holta lowered his colours in heat eight.

Pedersen was given great support by a solid team performance. Reserve Anders Mellgren impressed on eight paid 10 and Britain’s Lee Richardson added eight paid nine.

Indianerna fans had some reason to be cheerful after their dynamic Dane, Niels-Kristian Iversen, kept their side in the hunt with a fantastic 13 paid 14-point haul. He was only denied a maximum by Pedersen in race 15. Piotr Protasiewicz scored eight paid nine for the Indians, while Hans Andersen contributed a straight eight at reserve.

But the team’s other Grand Prix stars had a tough time as Kenneth Bjerre managed just four paid five and Antonio Lindback scored from just one of his four rides, bagging three with a victory in heat 12.

Elsewhere, young guns Patryk Dudek and Darcy Ward starred on their Dackarna debuts to give the Malilla club a massive 49-41 triumph away to defending champions Piraterna.

Dudek scored a phenomenal 14 paid 15 from six at reserve, while Ward racked up 12 paid 13. World No.2 Andreas Jonsson picked up nine paid 10, while Freddie Lindgren had a lacklustre night on five.

Aussie champion Chris Holder was Pirates’ top man on 10 paid 12, while Polish Under-21 champion Piotr Pawlicki accrued nine.

But world champion Greg Hancock endured a dismal day at the races, scoring just five and getting excluded from two heats.

In the day’s other meeting, British star Chris Harris broke into double figures for Vastervik on 10 paid 12 from six. But it was not enough to save the coastal outfit from a 50-40 loss at home to Valsarna.

Harris received some support from in-form Croatian rider Jurica Pavlic, who tallied seven.

But Valsarna’s Russian international Grigory Laguta romped to 12 paid 13, while Poland’s Krzysztof Buczkowski continued his recent hot streak with 11 points.
