FIM MONSTER ENERGY SPEEDWAY WORLD CUP TICKET

FIM MONSTER ENERGY SPEEDWAY WORLD CUP TICKETS ON SALE

Friday 1st June 2012, 15:00

Tickets for Event 2 of the 2012 FIM Monster Energy Speedway World Cup at King’s Lynn on July 9 are on sale now and fans can save over £30* on tickets bought before  July 1.

Team Great Britain launch their campaign at the Norfolk Arena for the third year running and will tackle huge rivals Australia, the Czech Republic and qualifiers Germany.  The winners earn a spot in the Final at Swedish track Malilla on July 16, while the second and third-placed teams contest the Race-Off at the same venue on July 14.

"Anything can happen on the night. We know the Aussies are one of the best sides in the world at the moment, but we’re not going to worry about that."

- Neil Middleditch

BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “We’re delighted to be back at King’s Lynn once again. The Norfolk Arena has always treated us to some great racing and the fierce battles on the track create a huge buzz on the terraces.

“Once again we are offering fans to take advantage of the excellent ticket discounts – particularly on the family ticket where supporters can save £30 - if purchased before July 1.  There are very few world championship sporting events that can boast such great value-for-money prices and I’m sure that the British fans will be out in force to support Team GB.

“With Team Great Britain manager Neil Middleditch likely to be up against his Poole stars, Chris Holder and Darcy Ward, the Anglo-Aussie rivalry in particular should make for a compelling contest. But the Czechs and Germans will definitely be keen to cause a few upsets.”

Neil Middleditch knows his side faces a tough battle to get the better of the Aussies for top spot. But he hopes the home fans can roar the Lions into the Final.

He said: “Anything can happen on the night. We know the Aussies are one of the best sides in the world at the moment, but we’re not going to worry about that. We know we’re going to go into the meeting as underdogs, but the format has changed this year and the teams are down to four riders. I think that possibly makes us a bit stronger.

“But we’ve also got the Czechs and Germans there. They’ll have riders in their teams capable of stealing points from both us and the Aussies.

“Hopefully with the backing from the fans, and they have played such a huge part over the years, we can make it to the final.”
