DON'T LOOK DOWN!

Swedish star Freddie Lindgren says he isn’t looking down the World Championship ladder after climbing into the top eight with his maiden SGP victory in Gothenburg.

The Orebro-born man goes into the FIM Dansk Metal Danish SGP in Copenhagen on Saturday night with 37 points – level with Emil Sayfutdinov in seventh.

Lindgren, who occupies the last automatic qualification berth for next season’s series, is six ahead of fellow countryman Antonio Lindback in ninth place.

But Fast Freddie isn’t looking over his shoulder and he is focused on making up the nine-point gap between him and world No.3 Jaroslaw Hampel in sixth spot. He said: “I’m looking upwards, that’s for sure. I’m not looking downwards and I want to climb higher in the table.”

Hampel is just 12 points behind series leader Greg Hancock as this year’s title race threatens to go to the wire.

“It’s very tight at the moment at the top,” Lindgren said. “There aren’t many points separating the top five or six. That’s really good for the championship.

“Me and Emil are a bit further down. It’s good for the series that no-one is running away with it. We’ve had four different Grand Prix winners and I think that’s really good for the fans.”

Lindgren’s scores at the PARKEN Stadium are steadily improving. After notching just three points there in 2008 and 2009, he bagged eight in 2010 and nine last year.

The Wolves No.1 is determined to maintain this progress, despite the leg muscle damage he sustained in Czestochowa on Sunday.

He said: “Copenhagen is a track I enjoy riding and I’ve had some decent results there before. I’m up for it. I’m positive about my machinery and I feel pretty confident in everything I do.”
