CHASING DOWN THE CHAMP

Australian champion Chris Holder is confident he can close the 14-point gap between him and SGP series leader Greg Hancock and said “that can quite easily disappear in one meeting.”
The Poole star, who leads Pirates into action at home to Birmingham this evening, is fourth in the SGP standings on 61 points.
Herbie is at the summit on 75 with Danish SGP winner Jason Crump in hot pursuit on 73. Danish No.1 Nicki Pedersen is third on 65.
Holder, who triumphed in the FIM Fogo European SGP at Leszno on April 28, knows another victory would put him neck-and-neck with the top two.
But with seven rounds to race this term, the 24-year-old isn’t going to panic as he chases Hancock and Crump down.
"I’m not worried too much about Greg and Crumpy getting a few points on me in Copenhagen. There’s still a long way to go."

He said: “I’m not worried too much about Greg and Crumpy getting a few points on me in Copenhagen. There’s still a long way to go. They had a good round, got 17 and 18 points, and I was on nine. Greg is 14 ahead of me and Crumpy is 12 up, but that can quite easily disappear in one meeting.
“If it’s that sort of gap before the last round, then I’ve got a problem. But right now there are plenty of meetings to go and a lot of races. You’ve just got to keep in there, keep in the top half of the field and keep trying to get double figures every time.”
Holder’s Danish SGP ended when he was controversially excluded from the semi-finals for bringing down Pedersen.
The Sydneysider was irate with the decision after the meeting, but has calmed down considerably since then. He said: “I shouldn’t have been excluded from the semis, and stuff like that does annoy you a bit, but that’s racing.
“I really don’t mind right now. At the time, you’re pretty frustrated and angry. But I’m over that and I’m looking forward to the next one. I’m just keen to make sure it doesn’t happen again!”
