JD LEAVES LAKESIDE

Tuesday 28th August 2012, 14:16
Swedish international Jonas Davidsson has quit the Lakeside Hammers following a disastrous return to Elite League racing.
JD was drafted into the Essex outfit’s septet in place of the late Lee Richardson, but has fallen well short of his usual standards.
The Zielona Gora man bagged 12 paid 13 points for Falubaz at home to Bydgoszcz on Sunday, but even those heroics were not enough to convince him to fight on at Lakeside.
Hammers co-promoter Jon Cook is now seeking a replacement, but bids for SGP star Peter Ljung and Tomasz Jedrzejak had failed as their Swedish side Vastervik has reached the Elitserien play-offs. Lakeside will use rider replacement to cover until a new man is found.
Cook told the Lakeside official website: “Sadly Jonas has had enough and, despite a great meeting in Poland on Sunday, he feels he is putting himself under too much pressure to return to form here in the UK.
“His return was well intentioned by all parties but has not worked, and we wish him well. We now have to concentrate on the week ahead and hope to have a new face in quickly.”
Lakeside face a tough spell as they tackle Poole at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, before hosting the Pirates at Thurrock on Friday.
