Wolves have been hit by another blow ahead of tonight's Elite League trip to Belle Vue after Freddie Lindgren was left stranded in Poland.

The SGP star’s flight to the UK was cancelled and the club are not allowed a guest facility for the Orebro-born man, who was racing for Wroclaw in their relegation play-off at home to Gdansk on Sunday.

They were already without Team Great Britain star Tai Woffinden, who also races for Wroclaw and suffered a dislocated shoulder in heat 15 at the Olympic Stadium.

British Under-21 champion Joe Haines, a Wolves asset, has accepted a late call to replace Lindgren.

Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: "Freddie moved heaven and earth to get here. As soon as he became aware there was a problem with his flight he explored several other routes but it was just not possible to get him to Manchester.

"We are naturally unhappy with the situation as we are already without Tai and both Freddie and the club would like to apologise to our fans and to all at Belle Vue. Naturally we are now badly depleted."
