NICKI'S GDANSK GO DOWN

Sunday 16th September 2012, 19:02
Danish star Nicki Pedersen powered to 17 points, but it was not enough to keep Gdansk in the Polish Ekstraliga as Wroclaw edged their relegation play-off 91-88 on aggregate.
The triple world champion masterminded the coastal club’s 50-39 home triumph on the day, but they will be replaced in the Ekstraliga by First Division champions Gniezno.
They sealed promotion with a 51-39 win over Lublin, inspired by a 15-point maximum from SGP racer Bjarne Pedersen.
Swedish hotshot Freddie Lindgren shone on 14 paid 15 points from six races for Wroclaw, who will now meet second tier runners-up Grudziadz in a promotion/relegation play-off.
Grudziadz won 51-39 at home to Daugavpils thanks to 14 points from Peter Ljung and 11 paid 13 from Hans Andersen.
The Ekstraliga title play-off final line-up remains undecided following the chaos in Torun, which saw Tarnow’s Greg Hancock arrive four minutes late and referee Piotr Lis award the hosts a 40-0 whitewash. The Swallows have challenged the decision and the meeting could be re-staged at the Marian Rose Motoarena on Thursday.
In the other semi-final, Gorzow cruised into the championship decider after terrific trio Krzysztof Kasprzak, Matej Zagar and Niels-Kristian Iversen led them to a 56-34 victory over Zielona Gora to earn a 101-79 aggregate triumph.
KK bagged 13 paid 14 at the Edward Jancarz Stadium, while Iversen piled up a straight 13 and Zagar roared to a 12 paid 15-point maximum. Former world champion Tomasz Gollob bagged eight and FIM Dansk Metal Nordic SGP wild card Michael Jepsen Jensen added six paid eight.
Former Grand Prix regular Piotr Protasiewicz and Ukrainian starlet Aleksandr Loktaev tallied 10 apiece for the visitors, who were missing the injured Andreas Jonsson.
