THJ'S BAD HAND

Friday 5th October 2012, 08:23
Peterborough have been dealt a further blow with Tomas H Jonasson now forced out of action with a broken hand.
Jonasson crashed while helping Vetlanda win the Swedish Elitserien play-off final on Wednesday evening – and he joins Panthers’ ever-growing injury list.
The Swede’s untimely break is a further setback for the Panthers with Ryan Sullivan and Linus Sundstrom also set to miss their Knockout Cup home clash against Swindon on Thursday.
Sullivan sustained a wrist injury in the Elite League match at Belle Vue last month, but is having daily physiotherapy and doing some gym work in a bid to speed up his recovery.
He has been ruled out of the first leg of the cup tie at the Showground and is also doubtful for the second leg, but is still hopeful of making a track return before the end of the season.
The news on Sundstrom’s shoulder injury isn’t quite so good with the Swede conceding defeat as far as this season is concerned and is now concentrating on being 100 percent fit for next year.
Despite the problems, Panthers are going all-out to win the Knockout Cup and have vowed to track the strongest team possible in the competition.
Panthers co-boss Jan Staechmann said: “We have had a horrendous run with injuries this season.
“It's all well and good being a formidable force when we have a full team, but having a full team has been a bit of a rarity.
“The Knockout Cup is now our chance to salvage something out of 2012. The promotion deserves to get something out of what has been a testing season - they have put so much into making the Panthers genuine title contenders.
“It will hopefully also give our fans something to cheer about, and also serve as a thank you for their much-appreciated support during the season.”
