JAREK EYES WILD RIDE

Saturday 6th October 2012, 12:19
Polish hotshot Jaroslaw Hampel admitted “I still have a lot of ambitions” as he targets a wild card place for next year’s World Championship.
The Leszno star rides in the FIM Torun SGP of Poland tonight, knowing he is unable to break into the SGP’s top nine and earn automatic qualification for the 2013 series.
Hampel sat out the rounds in Gorzow, Gorican, Terenzano and Cardiff after breaking his ankle in heat one of the FIM Dansk Metal Danish SGP in Copenhagen on June 9.
Having earned World Championship silver in 2010 and bronze last year, the Lodz-born rider was being tipped to complete his collection with a gold medal.
The 30-year-old still hopes he gets that chance next season, but knows he needs a permanent wild card from series organisers BSI Speedway and the FIM.
"I really want to get the wild card because it’s my dream to race in the Grand Prix, and of course be world champion."

He said: “I want to say one thing. I will be ready for next year. I will be ready to get back on a good level and I still have a lot of ambitions. I really want to get the wild card because it’s my dream to race in the Grand Prix, and of course be world champion.”
Having endured one of the toughest seasons of his career, Hampel would love to finish it on a high at the Marian Rose Motoarena tonight.
He said: “Ending the season well is my target. Anything can happen, but I am ready. I’m still trying to improve a lot.
“I’ll try to do a good job on the track. Last time when I raced in Torun, everything was good. I finished second in 2011 and hopefully I can have the same situation this time. I just need to be ready and keep focused in every single race.”
