Grand Prix star Krzysztof Kasprzak already has his sights set on a Poole return for 2013 and hopes to celebrate his British testimonial at Wimborne Road in March.

The Polish international starred on 16 points, despite Poole crashing 95-89 on aggregate in the Elite League Grand Final against Swindon on Monday night.

In the absence of the injured Darcy Ward and Piotr Pawlicki, KK’s firepower kept the Dorset side in the hunt as they fought to deny Swindon their first title in 45 years.

With Ward in the SGP elite for 2013, there is speculation over whether he will race full-time in the UK next term. Having made an impressive return to Poole since replacing Adrian Miedzinski in July, Kasprzak fancies his chances of earning a Wimborne Road berth on his 8.39 average.

And he already has thoughts of celebrating a decade in British racing with a testimonial bash in March.

KK, who first joined Poole in 2003, said: “I want to stay at Poole. I have a testimonial next year and I hope that will be in March. I hope all fans come to this meeting because Poole is my second home and it will be a big meeting. It’s not definite yet, but I hope it will happen.”

Kasprzak was gutted to have to settle for league silver again after his Polish side Gorzow were denied by Tarnow in the Ekstraliga final. This is the second time a weakened team has cost the Leszno-born star.

He said: “I’m disappointed because we worked very hard all season. The first piece of bad luck was we didn’t have Pawlicki and after that we didn’t have Darcy either.

“What can we do when we lose half the team? Together these boys could have scored 20 points more than we got. But Swindon were the better team and congratulations to them.

“I did what I could. The track was so difficult to race. This wasn’t the Poole home track. It was a new track for us. We’ve never raced on anything like that this year and the fact we had to race on it in the final is a great shame to me.

“I came back to Poole and reached the play-off final. We lost the final in Poland with Gorzow because we didn’t have (Bartosz) Zmarzlik. It was the same story here – we didn’t win because we didn’t have a full team. What can you do? We’ll wait for next season.”
