Polish icon Tomasz Gollob is confident a month training in the Spanish sun will stand him in good stead for the SGP season.

The 41-year-old makes his annual trip to warmer climes next month, where he will limber up for the new season with some motocross action.

Gollob heads back to Poland shortly before making the trip to the Southern Hemisphere for the New Zealand FIM Speedway Grand Prix, which takes place at Western Springs on March 23.

The Torun signing has stepped up his pre-season routine in Spain for a number of years and is certain his training regime will have him fighting fit for the SGP opener.

He told gazeta.torun.pl: “Every year I train alone and have a similar course of preparation. It is a proven method, and I think it is worth keeping it.

“I can assure fans that Tomasz Gollob will be perfectly prepared for the season. Every year I go to Spain. It will be the same. I spend almost a month there.

“At the moment, I arrive there on February 9. Afterwards, I go back to Poland, but not for long because I’ll be flying out to Auckland soon after (March 17). As for the preparation, in Spain, I will focus on strength and endurance. I can’t tell you anymore, though.”
