SCOTTY'S CARDIFF CALL-UP

Seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls is set to appear at the Fogo British SGP after all – as part of the British Eurosport team.

Seven-time British champion Scott Nicholls is set to appear at the Fogo British SGP after all – as part of British Eurosport’s presentation team.

Nicholls will be joined by his wife Sophie Blake, who is also no stranger to SGP and British Elite League fans, having served as Sky Sports’ pits reporter for a number of seasons.

Although Nicholls is disappointed not to be racing in the Millennium Stadium spectacular for the first time since World Championship speedway came to the venue in 2001, he can’t wait to play his part in covering the action on June 1.

Nicholls, who has previously reported for Sky Sports as well, said: "It's going to be great working alongside the British Eurosport speedway team – I've really enjoyed my previous work in front the camera. Hopefully I'll be able to add some real insight into what the riders have to go through to be at the top of their game – I'm raring to go.”

Blake added: "I'm delighted to be joining the British Eurosport team at such an exciting time. Together with Scott, speedway is such a big part of our lives – it'll be great to work alongside him on the production team rather than worrying about him while he races! It's great to be back.”

British Eurosport managing director David Kerr said: “We have been really pleased with our coverage of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series so far in this our first year.

“But we are really excited about the chance to be on the ground at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and having Sophie and Scott as part of the team will add to our coverage and analysis of what promises to be a fantastic meeting.”
