DOYLE'S GORZOW FINAL THRILLER

Aussie star Jason Doyle is delighted to go down in history as “winning one of the best SGP finals” as he reflected on his Gorzow SGP epic with Tai Woffinden last summer.

The duo went wheel-to-wheel in pursuit of victory in the Edward Jancarz Stadium final on August 27 and produced an all-time classic FIM Speedway Grand Prix race - which you can enjoy again in the video above.

After passing and re-passing for four laps, Doyle just got the verdict on the final turn.

"I’m going to take the positives out of a good year, and not just in the GPs. In my league racing, it was definitely the best season I have had."

The Newcastle-born racer is currently recovering from the shoulder, elbow and lung damage which ended his season in Torun. But his rehabilitation is made easier by looking back on great moments like this.

The 31-year-old said: “It was an enjoyable race and it will go down in history as me winning one of the best SGP finals. When I’m injured like this, it is nice to look back on the season and only look at the good times.

“One bad heat has tarnished a really good season. But I’m going to take the positives out of a good year, and not just in the GPs.

"In my league racing, it was definitely the best season I have had. Hopefully I can come back and have the same season.”

Doyle, winner of four SGP rounds this year, admits the mutual trust between him and Woffinden gave them the confidence to race to the absolute limit.

He said: “As Woffy has said in a couple of interviews this year, you know the riders you can do this with. I’m not the kind of guy to wipe Woffy or any rider out, or turn left and right.

“It was a fair, clean race and if Woffy had beaten me, I’d have been as happy as Woffy was with me winning. We both gave it 100 percent and there were no dirty moves at all.”
