VACULIK: OLDER AND WISER

Slovak star Martin Vaculik hopes returning to the SGP series “older, wiser and more experienced” will help him make his mark in 2017.

Slovak star Martin Vaculik hopes returning to the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series “older, wiser and more experienced” will help him make his mark in 2017.

The Zarnovica-born racer has been out of the World Championship for the past three years. But he’s back in the sport’s elite after coming second in the GP Challenge at Vetlanda in September.

Vaculik finished 14th in his last SGP series back in 2013, but the former European champion insists he’s a different man on and off the track now.

I’m older, I’m wiser, I’m more focused and I know what is important in the sport and also in life. I’m more dedicated to the sport and I’m working very hard.

The Gorzow and Vetlanda signing said: “Last time, I was a different person on both sides. Now it’s a different Martin Vaculik to who I was three or four years ago. I have changed many things in my life. Now I am a different rider and a different person.

“I also have experience from the Grand Prix and now I know how you have to take this series. I’m older, I’m wiser, I’m more focused and I know what is important in the sport and also in life. I’m more dedicated to the sport and I’m working very hard.

“I’ve gained more and more experience year after year. Every year gives you something else, something more and something different. Now I’m three or four years older, wiser and more experienced.

“I have changed my style a little bit. I know more about speedway and I think that’s all I can say. I don’t want to say too much – everything will show on the track.”
