DUDEK: DACKARNA'S FREDDIE BOOST

Polish champion Patryk Dudek hopes bringing Swedish star Freddie Lindgren back to Dackarna helps his side mount a push for Elitserien gold.

Polish champion Patryk Dudek hopes bringing Swedish star Freddie Lindgren back to Dackarna helps his side mount another push for Elitserien gold.

FIM Speedway Grand Prix newcomer Dudek is back in Malilla this season, where he inspired the team to last year’s Swedish play-off final, which saw them miss out on the title against a powerful Rospiggarna team.

I hope we will have a good atmosphere in the team again and that can be our strong point as we fight for medals. But it will be tough to repeat this year’s success.

Dackarna have retained Dudek’s Polish team mate Maciej Janowski, as well as the likes of Peter Ljung and Kacper Gomolski. Danish duo Anders Thomsen and Mads Korneliussen are also in the squad.

Dudek accepts reaching another final will be no easy task, but he believes bringing Lindgren back after a few years away at his boyhood club Indianerna comes as a boost.

He said: “Freddie is a big transfer for us. But a few clubs have also made changes, so next season will be tough.

“I hope we will have a good atmosphere in the team again and that can be our strong point as we fight for medals. But it will be tough to repeat this year’s success.”

The Zielona Gora man has established himself as a firm fans’ favourite in Malilla and is enjoying life in Dackarna colours, having topped the team’s average charts with a stunning 2016 season.

He said: “I really like this club. I like their professionalism, organisation and the atmosphere. The Dackarna fans are amazing. They follow us even though it’s on a Tuesday and a few of them have to work. I feel comfortable there and really like everything about Dackarna.”
