Former SGP star Peter Ljung is one of six Swedish stars fighting for full-time FIM Speedway Grand Prix places in this year’s qualifiers.

National governing body SVEMO has nominated Ljung and Stockholm SGP wild card Jacob Thorssell for the qualification quarter final at Danish venue Esbjerg on May 6.

Former Swedish SGP wild card Linus Sundstrom and Pontus Aspgren have been picked for the quarter final at Italian track Lonigo the same day.

And Joonas Kylmakorpi and Ludvig Lindgren – younger brother of SGP regular Freddie – race in the Abensberg round in Germany on June 5.

Oliver Berntzon and Victor Palovaara are reserves if any of the first six are forced out due to injury, illness or other reasons.

The Swedes join their international rivals in competing for places in the GP Challenge at Russian track Togliatti on August 19, where the top three qualify for the 2018 SGP series.
