World Under-21 champion Max Fricke and Adrian Miedzinski have both withdrawn from Saturday’s GP Challenge in Togliatti.

World Under-21 champion Max Fricke and Adrian Miedzinski have both withdrawn from Saturday’s GP Challenge in Togliatti.

Fricke suffered hairline fractures of the winglets on his C6 and C7 neck vertebrae in a crash in Vetlanda on August 3.

Despite leaving no stone unturned in his rehabilitation efforts, he has been forced to admit defeat for the Russian showdown, where the top three riders earn SGP places for 2018.

Torun star Miedzinski also skips the contest due to a hand injury. Their places in the meeting are taken by track reserve pair Roman Lakhbaum and Gleb Chugunov – the unexpected teenage hero of Russia’s Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup Race Off win in Leszno.

Russian international Andrei Kudriashov has been called up and serves as the sole track reserve.

GP CHALLENGE LINE-UP: 1 Martin Smolinski, 2 Peter Kildemand, 3 Roman Lakhbaum, 4 Kai Huckenbeck, 5 Patryk Dudek, 6 Vaclav Milik, 7 Przemyslaw Pawlicki, 8 Artem Laguta, 9 Leon Madsen, 10 Matej Zagar, 11 Martin Vaculik, 12 Gleb Chugunov, 13 Craig Cook, 14 Mateusz Szczepaniak, 15 Michael Jepsen Jensen, 16 Piotr Pawlicki.
