DUDEK: STANDINGS ONLY COUNT DOWN UNDER

Patryk Dudek isn’t concerning himself with the World Championship standings, despite moving into the silver medal spot in Teterow.

Polish racer Patryk Dudek isn’t concerning himself with the World Championship standings, despite moving into the silver medal spot at the IPONE German SGP on Saturday.

The Zielona Gora and Dackarna star, who rides in the Stockholm SGP on September 23, exited the Teterow meeting at the semi-final stages with a rock-solid 11 points.

I’m up to second now, but that doesn’t matter. We will see what happens after the Australian GP.

That was enough to help him leapfrog fellow countryman Maciej Janowski into second place. He now has 104 points, but Jason Doyle’s 17-point haul in Germany saw him storm 10 clear at the top on 114.

Dudek is paying little attention to the table for now, though, and knows only his position after the season-closing QBE Insurance Australian SGP in Melbourne on October 28 truly counts.

He said: “I’m up to second now, but that doesn’t matter. We will see what happens after the Australian GP.”

There were positives and negatives for Dudek in Teterow. He opened his night by lowering Aussie racer Tyron Proctor’s Bergring Arena track record of 59.75 seconds – setting a new mark of 58.18.

But he was disappointed to miss out on a place in the final. Reflecting on his night, Dudek said: “After my first heat I was very happy because I broke the track record. The beginning was very good for me.

“I scored 11 points and was close to racing in the final, but I was a little bit slow in the semi-final. We changed everything, but it was slow. Maybe next time I will go to the final.”
