Leicester Lions all but secured their spot in the 2018 SGB Premiership after smashing Sheffield 58-32 in the first leg of their promotion/relegation race-off at Owlerton on Monday.

Former British champion Danny King and Kyle Newman led the Lions assault on 13 paid 15 points apiece.

Swedish international Kim Nilsson added 13 paid 14, while Cameron Heeps collected 11 paid 12.

Danish racer Lasse Bjerre was Sheffield’s top scorer on 12.

The second leg takes place at Beaumont Park next Monday.
