Danish international Hans Andersen has completed a promising Leicester Lions line-up for 2018.

The former FIM Speedway Grand Prix rider makes the move from Poole after spending two seasons in Pirates kevlars.

I’m looking forward to the season with Leicester, it’s a new challenge for me but the team looks strong and competitive which is very important for me.

Hans Andersen

He joins SGP racer Martin Vaculik and former British champion Danny King in a strong-looking top three, with former World Under-21 Championship runner-up Krystian Pieszczek, Josh Bates, Kyle Newman and James Sarjeant completing the team.

Andersen says he wasn’t short of offers after agreeing to make his Lions debut this year.

He said: “I’m looking forward to the season with Leicester, it’s a new challenge for me but the team looks strong and competitive which is very important for me.

“I was never worried about missing out as I had various teams asking for my services. And to be fair, I still think I’ve got a lot to offer to British speedway both on and off track.

“It’s vital we have a good season for the fans and Leicester and also the management, but I think the new look Lions side looks promising to all.

“I want to help my teams to success. Winning becomes a habit and that’s something I aim to take with me.”

Andersen also has big individual ambitions, including a final crack at SGP qualification.

He said: “With a bit of luck I’d like a last attempt of the Grand Prix because I don’t see myself as done on the big stage.

“I’m sure I can also help the younger riders at Leicester. Those that listen I have a lot of time for.”
