HOLDER BACK ON TRACK FOR TORUN

Chris Holder hit the ground running on his PGE Ekstraliga return, storming to 12 points as Torun beat Wroclaw 47-43.

14 / 04 / 2018, 23:10

Aussie icon Chris Holder hit the ground running on his PGE Ekstraliga return, storming to 12 points as Torun beat Wroclaw 47-43 at the Marian Rose Motoarena on Saturday.

The Sydneysider has been forced to sit out the opening weeks of the season due to some undisclosed personal issues which prevented him from travelling to Poland, and his sole track action prior to this week was Poole Pirates’ press and practice day on March 21.

But the 30-year-old proved he hadn’t forgotten how to pile up the points, making a match-winning contribution and topping the scorechart.

Holder raced to three heat wins from five rides, including victories over the likes of SGP rival Maciej Janowski, in-form fellow countryman Max Fricke and Czech hotshot Vaclav Milik.

The 2012 world champion is now expected to be restored to the Poole team with stand-in star Peter Kildemand stepping down. But it’s unclear whether or not the change will be made in time for Pirates’ trip to Belle Vue on Monday.
