SGP racer Matej Zagar continued his long reign over Slovenian speedway after winning his 17th national title in Lendava on Saturday.

The Czestochowa man roared to a 15-point maximum in the heats, before winning the final to complete a clean sweep of victories in all three rounds.

Zagar’s triumph further cements his status as Slovenia’s greatest ever speedway rider, having won the nation’s top prize every season since 2002.

Slovenian internationals Matic Ivacic and Nick Skorja finished second and third respectively – two months after the pair played their part in helping Zagar take their country to fourth place in Monster Energy FIM Speedway of Nations Race Off 1 in Teterow.

Slovenia only fell short of the Finals after losing out in the Final Knock-Out against Denmark.
