King’s Lynn have been dealt a savage blow the night before the SGB Premiership Grand Final at Poole on Monday after Niels-Kristian Iversen was ruled out.
The Danish racer was involved in a first-turn collision with fellow SGP 2019 qualifier Janusz Kolodziej in a benefit meeting for Polish great Tomasz Gollob, staged at Bydgoszcz on Sunday.
Kolodziej was complaining of pain in his hand, while Iversen was taken to hospital for checks with fears over a possible head injury.
There was some good news as NKI was released from hospital. Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Got released from hospital with nothing broken. Took a pretty heavy knock but will be all good with some rest. So I count myself lucky. Thanks for all your concerns.”
The bad news for the Stars is he won’t make it to Poole for their Grand Final opener, with Swindon racer Adam Ellis guesting for the table-topping side.
Meanwhile, Robins star Nick Morris has been called up by the Pirates to cover for Brady Kurtz, who misses out with a broken collarbone.
